About Our Attorneys

Attorneys Carolyn A. McBeath and Kathleen J. Smith have over 35 years of combined experience helping the people of California with their legal problems. In 2006, the two started McBeath & Smith, LLP, a law firm that is focused on finding solutions for those with questions concerning divorce, child custody, child support and other family law matters.

Our firm is built on a very simple philosophy: We do everything that we can to protect the best interests of the children in each and every case. We want to make sure that throughout the case, you are focused on finding a resolution that allows your child to emerge from the situation in the best possible position. It is so easy to lose focus in these cases and want to make everything about punishing the other side, but this does not always lead to the outcome that you are seeking.

When we meet with you to discuss your case, we want to explain the law to you so that you are aware of the exact options that are available to you. We make every effort to work together with the opposition in a cooperative manner, because we feel that the agreements that we reach together stand a much better chance of lasting.

However, in the event that your ex is unwilling to meet you half way, we are tenacious litigators for our clients. We have handled many cases at trial, and we are familiar with the courts and judges in Sonoma County. We are not intimidated by the courtroom, and we will work hard to help you protect your family.

We know that these are tough cases with real-life consequences. We take our jobs seriously, and we want you to feel like you can rely upon us for help at any time throughout the process. We are here for you.
